Updated to Reflect the Latest Best Practices

The in-person option of this vital training has now been updated to reflect the latest edition of the LEGS Handbook. It also incorporates insights from the 2020 Training Review, along with valuable feedback from our team of expert global trainers. These revisions ensure that the content is fully aligned with the most up-to-date training methodologies and technical guidance on emergency livestock response.

The revamped training programme is structured around the four key stages of the LEGS approach to emergency planning, as detailed in the 3rd edition of the Handbook.

  • New LEGS Principles
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
  • Market-based programming including cash and voucher assistance

These additions ensure that participants leave the training equipped to apply the LEGS approach effectively in any emergency setting.

Feedback from Pilot Participants

Sylvester Wakhu from VSF Germany, based in Marsabit, Kenya, participated in a recent pilot of the updated training course and shared his thoughts. He noted, “The training offers essential guidance on achieving livelihood goals while maintaining minimum standards. I believe this will greatly improve my ability to support communities, ensuring that interventions protect and rebuild livestock assets, contributing to resilience in emergencies.”
